Where to find the certificate
- Log in to your Allan Gray Online account at
login.secure.allangray.co.za. - Go to Statements & documents.
- Select Tax certificates.
That is the route in Allan Gray's 2026 tax FAQ. Allan Gray also says it sends tax certificates to the email or postal address on record. If you cannot log in, Allan Gray's client line is 0860 000 654.
Allan Gray says certificates for the tax year ended 28 February 2026 are distributed or made available online before the filing season opens.
What the certificate shows
Allan Gray calls it the retirement annuity fund contribution certificate. It "reports all retirement annuity fund contributions made during the tax year" and applies to Allan Gray Retirement Annuity Fund accounts, whose numbers start with AGRA.
If you hold other Allan Gray products, you may receive other certificates too. Allan Gray's FAQ lists an IT3(b) for interest, dividends and other income, an IT3(c) for capital gains and losses, an IT3(s) for tax-free investments, and an IRP5 for annuity income or lump sums. Allan Gray says it reports client information to SARS twice a year.
Make it SARS-ready before you upload
When you do upload the certificate, for a correction or a verification, the file has to pass eFiling's upload checks:
- Under 5MB per file. A multi-page phone photo or a high-resolution scan can go over the limit.
- Not password-protected. SARS lists password-protected and encrypted documents from banks and funds as a cause of failed uploads. The file opens for you but eFiling rejects it.
- Readable. Your name, the policy or account number, the tax year and the contribution total must be legible after any compression.
- A plain filename. Use letters, numbers and hyphens only, for example
allan-gray-ra-certificate-2026.pdf.
If the figure on your return is wrong
SARS's ITR12 guide says auto-assessments use data received from "employers, financial institutions, medical schemes, retirement annuity fund administrators and other third-party data providers". If the contribution figure on your return does not match your certificate, SARS's auto-assessment guidance is to ask the institution that provided the data to correct it and send the updated data to SARS. Then open your return again, check that the figure has updated, and file. Keep the certificate: it is your proof if SARS asks.
Check the file before you upload
Run the certificate through the SARS Document Compliance Checker. It flags encrypted PDFs, oversized files and filenames eFiling may refuse, in your browser, without uploading anything. Then follow the verification guide for the eFiling submission itself.
